At a glance

Along the beautiful Via Pasitea, in the Fornillo area, is this elegant and charming ancestral family home which was built in the 18th century. It is furnished with fine antiques and decorated with wonderful works of art, a combination of old prints, etchings, sketches and some more contemporary paintings. The high ceilings are vaulted and the floors still retain the original period tiles and hand-made bricks in the typical style of regional architecture. The house remains naturally cool in summer and warm in winter. An outstanding feature of the house is the many terraces, all with a view across Positano to the sea and beautifully planted with bougainvillea, jasmine, roses and lemon trees.

There are numerous steps up from the road to reach the entry opening to a large terrace. The living room with fireplace opens to the furnished garden area and continues into a second sitting room with fireplace. This in turn opens through an archway to the dining room with fireplace and antique Tuscan table seating eight. These three rooms run across the front of the house A few steps away is the kitchen and a large pantry.  The kitchen has a nice breakfast room which opens to the terrace. Guest bathroom with shower on this floor.

Stairs in slate lead upstairs. On one side is a beautiful study and library, with sofas and TV. The study with a single daybed opens to another terrace. The sleeping accommodation consists of one twin bedroom with French doors to the terrace, bathroom with shower, one queen bedroom opening to the terrace, one twin bedroom with large bathroom with stall shower and toilette area. All bedrooms have a lovely view to the sea.

I was quite enchanted by this lovely villa which has a very homely and warm feeling. The outdoor areas are superb. For a larger group, the two apartments of Piccola Pasitea, each sleeping four people, can be rented in conjunction with the villa. These two apartments are on the top level of the villa with private entrance from the street (many stairs!). See separate description.

Parking is at a premium in Positano and space must be requested and reserved upon confirmation of your booking, payable locally. English speaking manager on call. Porters available to be paid locally. Bus stop to Positano center at 50 meters. Nearest beach is Fornillo, approximately 500 meters.
