For those who like to be in a small town, with everything at your doorstep, here is the perfect place! Amelia is a beautiful walled town dating back to about 1134 B.C. when it was called Ameria. In the 6th and 4th centuries B.C. the ancient walls were built to defend the town from the raids of the nearby Etruscan population, then in 338 B.C. Amelia passed under the Roman domination and had a period of splendor. Many of the ancient baths remain today. In 313 A.D. the town became an episcopal seat. It was besieged by the Goths in 548 A.D. and then passed to the Byzantine-Roman population. With the coming of the Middle Ages (1240) Frederick I 's troops attacked the city and it passed to the dominion of the Church.
On the ground floor with its own entry is a suite comprised of a living room, twin bedroom and ensuite bathroom with shower. The upper level is huge, with entry into a large loft-like living area decorated with antique oriental rugs, hand carved stone fireplace, wonderful pieces of antiques, paintings, numerous sofas and armchairs. In one corner is the open-plan kitchen, complete with dishwasher, microwave, 4 ring gas stove and oven. The dining area is adjacent. From this living area open two spacious queensize bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom. The bathrooms, with showers, are decorated with Limoges tiles. The owner uses this house as his townhouse quite often and it is therefore richly furnished and equipped with everything you need for the most comfortable stay. The house is just a few steps from the main gate of Amelia and close to the shopping area. There is easy access for a car which can be parked within the property. A laundry is located in the cellar. |
